The Hillsides are now Lush Green - January 2018 Update

Dear Ones,

It's amazing how quickly January has flown by! The ranch received about 4 inches of rain, and the hillsides are now lush green, with plenty of grass for our goats, sheep, llama, steer and donkey.

We have a great sharing from Chuck Moore about his recent stay at Windermere:

"So I wake up in the Windermere Garden House, put on my slippers and walk out the door - the one that leads to some of the most beautiful and confounding rock formations - one looks like a giant mushroom! But what hits me first is the ocean view and I can see some of the islands. I know I should be seeing the City of Santa Barbara. I know I should because I saw it last night lit up like thousands of jeweled lights, right now it’s obscured by cloud cover which looks like a thousand cotton balls. I feel like I’m looking out the window of an airplane. After the wow factor wears off I think to myself, “This place needs to be kept a secret,” and then I remember when I was up here for Thanksgiving dinner in the huge barn and the beautiful feeling it called forth from this land when occupied by people giving heartfelt thanks.

We are most grateful that Windermere remained safe during the recent wildfires and subsequent mudslides in Santa Barbara and Ventura County. Please send Light to all those affected by the fires and mudslides, particularly those in the Montecito area.

This month the Hayes family blessed us with a visit to the ranch, enjoying "Moments of Peace" with the land and its furry four-legged critters.

Autumn, our retired Windermere mare, was hospitalized due to a sudden illness. She developed complications and had to be put down January 28. Can you please send the Light to Autumn for her journey home. She will be dearly missed.
